Knowledge platform energyhubs in The Netherlands

Welcome to Energiehubs.nl

The go-to place to find all information and expertise you need to set up an energy hub - driven by the energy sector.

What is an energy hub?

An energy hub is a smart, collective solution to the challenges of the energy transition. Entrepreneurs on a business park efficiently align their energy generation, storage, and consumption, within the capacity limits of the electricity grids. By doing so, they collectively use their energy resources more effectively and help prevent grid congestion.

About us
Energiehubs.nl is an independent knowledge platform, created by a network of public and private organisations. Together, we work towards a future-proof energy system, with local collaboration at its core.

The Energy Hubs Knowledge Platform is an initiative of:

  • Netbeheer Nederland: the association of all electricity and gas grid operators in the Netherlands. These operators contribute to the transition toward a sustainable energy system.
  • Minister van Klimaat en Groene Groei (Ministry of Climate and Green Growth): this ministry works with partners to create a cleaner and stronger Netherlands, focusing on a climate-neutral society through investments in people, innovation, and sustainable energy.
  • Raad voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency): RVO supports, advises, and encourages Dutch businesses. RVO helps entrepreneurs to innovate and become more sustainable.
  • Programma Verduurzaming Bedrijventerreinen Nederland, PVB (Programme for Sustainable Business Parks): PVB helps park managers, governments, and entrepreneurs to make business parks more sustainable: from initiating partnerships to strategy, implementation, and knowledge sharing.

We collaborate with:

  • Grid operators: Alliander, Coteq, Enexis, Stedin, and Westland Infra
  • Smart Energy Hubs programme: this national programme supports the development and scaling of energy hubs in the Netherlands. It is backed by our national government, provincial authorities, and all nine Regional Development Agencies (ROMs).
  • Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten, VNG (Association of Dutch Municipalities): the VNG represents the interests of all municipalities in the Netherlands and serves as a knowledge platform for local government.
  • Interprovinciaal Overleg, IPO (Interprovincial Consultation): The IPO advocates for the interests of the twelve Dutch provinces on a national and European political level.
  • Programma Netcongestie Bedrijfsleven (Programme on Grid Congestion & Business): this programme supports and engages businesses in tackling the challenge of grid congestion
